Wood stove changeout program funding ends

August 3, 2009 Update:
Federal and state grant funding for wood stove changeouts is depleted. Spokane Clean Air applied for another grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology to continue the program and just learned that we did not receive state funding.

We will pursue future funding opportunities, so check back periodically, or call us at 477-4727 ext. #100 and ask to be placed on a call-back list for future funding.

You may qualify for a federal tax credit to upgrade to a new wood stove (only certain types qualify.) Check with your local wood stove retailer for details.

From January 1, 2008 through June 2009, there were 215 old, smokey and inefficient wood burning stoves and inserts replaced with new, more efficient wood, gas or pellet stoves and inserts. These 215 wood stove changeouts will keep over 90 tons of air pollutants from Spokane's air each year.

Even without a rebate program, upgrading still pays.
There are many reasons to upgrade your old wood stove or insert. Newer technology stoves burn much cleaner and efficiently, saving money and improving indoor and outdoor air quality.
